Trained in Functional Medicine by the Kresser Institute, Victoria is also a Naturopath and Nutritionist who has run a full-time Integrative Medicine practice for 5 years, after a career working in the City. She has qualifications in genetic analysis and epigenetic coaching, endocrinology, complex digestive health conditions and Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth, autoimmune diseases, immunology, women’s health, brain microbiome and neurodegenerative conditions.
Victoria’s journey into Healthcare began with her own challenges: in her case, becoming seriously ill at 17. Her journey was perhaps quite extreme: 5 long-term stays in hospitals, with several near-death experiences, over the course of the following 9 years.
Throughout this time, Victoria had no diagnosis and was misdiagnosed with various eating disorders. After almost a decade of searching for solutions, Victoria was finally diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), Classic Type: a genetic connective tissue disorder.
For Victoria this was found to affect internal organs and vasculature, whilst also creating immune and neurological symptoms (as well as flexible joints). Within months she had been given the EDS trifecta diagnoses, with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS: a form of autonomic nervous system dysfunction) and Mast Cell Activation Disorder (MCAD: an immune system condition). She was also identified as having non-coeliac-gluten-sensitivity, kryptopyrrole syndrome (or Pyroluria) and global hormonal suppression.
Armed with these diagnoses, Victoria and her family assumed there would be support. However, no help was available from conventional medicine, except medications that caused side effects, or the option of simply halting her life due to ‘disability’. There also seemed to be a profound lack of knowledge around EDS.
Victoria had already been on an enlightening personal journey. Desperate for answers during the years of having none, Victoria was exposed to (and trained in) various disciplines relating to mindset (CBT, NLP) and many spiritual teachings from Eastern disciplines. All of these form the foundation of Victoria’s approach to life (and Aletheia) to this day.
Victoria attempted to understand more about the underlying body biochemistry of connective tissue disorders – strongly believing that truly understanding the reality of the condition would yield management solutions which offset symptoms.
Victoria’s investigations went on to take her through an entire spectrum of personal experimentation: attempting nutritional, supplementation and lifestyle solutions to her issues. During this time, Victoria’s understanding of human physiology was transformed – along with her comprehension of what ‘connective tissue disorders’ really mean.
Victoria’s journey spanned the breadth of Health – from chronic illness care to biohacking – and her conviction ultimately proved correct. Aletheia epitomises the heart of what Victoria learned: irrespective of ‘diagnosis’ or ‘conditions’, a Healthy nervous system can completely eliminate the manifestation of symptoms. Managing ‘stressors’ (in all senses of the word) is the route to a Healthy nervous system.
Victoria is now largely symptom free – and this doesn’t come through micromanaging her life, diet or environment. A resilient human nervous system emerges from a blend of the Four Pillars Aletheia is built upon: Physical Alignment, Nutrient Replenishment, Nourishing Environments and Cognitive (Mental/Spiritual) Peace. Bringing these Pillars to Life = Aletheia.
